Visionary Founder of AlKazemi Group

Mr. Abdullatif AlKazemi was born in 1927 and is widely recognized as the founder of the AlKazemi Group of Companies, a leading corporation in Kuwait. With a pioneering spirit and a keen sense of business acumen, he played a central role in shaping the corporate landscape of Kuwait during one of the nation’s most prosperous economic eras. His legacy continues to guide the group today, more than seven decades later, as it remains at the forefront of multiple industries.




The Early Years: Education and Early Career

After graduating in 1940, Mr. AlKazemi began his professional journey by working alongside his elder brother Zaid AlKazemi. However, driven by a passion for entrepreneurship, he soon shifted his focus to establishing his own business. His ambition led him to the shipping industry, where he identified significant opportunities for growth as Kuwait’s economy began to flourish.

In 1953, Mr. AlKazemi took a bold step by launching United Shipping Services, partnering with two established international companies—African Hull Blyth and British Cory Bros. This partnership marked the inception of the shipping and logistics division of AlKazemi Group and was among the first shipping companies to operate in Kuwait. His strategic vision in shipping laid the foundation for a diverse and thriving business empire.

 


Growth and Expansion: A Vision Beyond Shipping

As Kuwait’s economy continued to grow rapidly in the 1960s and 1970s, Mr. AlKazemi seized opportunities to diversify and expand the business. By the early 1990s, AlKazemi Group had grown into a multifaceted conglomerate with five major divisions:
