On August 23rd 2024, Al Kazemi Group marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of Akasa Air's first direct flight from Kuwait - Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Senior Civil Aviation officials, the Indian Ambassador of Kuwait, the Indian Consul of Kuwait, Senior Executives from Akasa Airlines, the Co-founder of Akasa Airlines, as well as Senior Executives and Top Management from Al Kazemi Group.
In his remarks, Mr. Ali Al Kazemi, Managing Director of Al Kazemi Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to attracting international airlines and expanding Kuwait’s global connectivity. He noted the importance of operating new routes to meet the growing demand for travel and enhance accessibility. Mr. Ali Al Kazemi also commended the efforts of the Civil Aviation personnel and officials for their support in facilitating the launch, ensuring the smooth provision of services and assistance required for the new route.
Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Indian Ambassador of Kuwait, expressed his gratitude to both governments and all relevant authorities for their collaboration in facilitating the direct flights. He praised the initiative, highlighting its potential to strengthen trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
Ms. Neelu Khatri, Co-Founder and Senior Vice President of Operations at Akasa Air, expressed her excitement regarding the airline's expansion into Kuwait: “We are delighted to expand our international network with the launch of operations in Kuwait. This new route will enhance direct connectivity between Mumbai and Kuwait, further strengthening the economic ties between two dynamic economies while also fostering greater cultural and trade exchanges.”
She highlighted that Kuwait is the fifth city in the Middle East to join their expanding international network, reinforcing their footprint in the region and reflecting their dedication to connecting people, destinations, and cultures through dependable service and affordable fares. She further emphasized that this marks the start of a broader plan to expand flight frequency between the two countries, positioning Akasa Airlines as a cost-effective option for travel to India, with fares that are highly competitive and potentially among the lowest offered by airlines.
